This is the best site for me because the recipes are easy to make and there is a lot of delicious tofu recipes. You have not tasted tofu until you have tasted fresh local tofu. In Wisconsin that would be Milwaukee's Simple Soyman's Bountiful Bean Tofu. They make it in the Milwaukee factory and it is distributed and arrives in Whole Food stores in WI every Friday. I don't think they sell it outside WI. I buy it by the case on Friday. Always check the expiration date on tofu. It only tastes good when its fresh. Don't buy stuff from China that is 5 weeks old before it even gets to the US. People who say they don't like tofu have never had fresh tofu. Press all the water out gently - cut it up in squares and fry it in olive oil. You can marinate it over night. The fat free vegan has some good marinate recipes. Use tamari instead of soy sauce. Buy good tasting mini flake nutritional yeast from the bins at a whole foods store and sprinkle it over the fried tofu before you eat it. Hmmmmmmm tofu.
Wild Blackberry Frozen Dessert
Apple Corn Bread Stuffing
1 large Red Delicious Apple
1/2 Red Onion onion
1 Cup Celery (chopped)
4 Cups Dried Corn Bread (cubed)
1 Cup Vegetable Broth
1/2 Teaspoon Dried Sage
1/2 Teaspoon Dried Thyme
1/4 Teaspoon Dried Rosemary
Olive Oil for Cooking
Heat oven to 350.
In a warm skillet, heat around 2 Tablespoons of Olive Oil. Once the Oil is warm, toss in Red Onion and Celery and cook till tender.
Remove from heat and add Corn Bread.
Add the remaining ingredients to the Vegetable Broth and pour over the Corn Bread and stir well while heating on low.
Place stuffing in a baking pan or glass dish and cover with foil. Bake for 30-40 minutes. Check on it often and remove from the oven when it reaches the desired texture – little crispy – tender but not moist.

This Thursday you can watch Matt Rossell recount his undercover investigation at the Oregon Primate Center, where he worked for 2 years as an animal technician, followed at 11 by Safer Medicines, a documentary highlighting drug testing companies that use more reliable and relevant human-based methods to develop drugs quicker, cheaper and without side effects!

Thanks to Father Pat and Blessed Sacrament for hosting a talk at Blessed Sacrament Church "Animals in Medical Research: The Ethics of Stewardship of Creation".
He, Rick Marolt and Matt Rassette, a UW veterinarian presented their views on this issue. I videotaped it and will show it next Thursday on WYOU.
Many thanks to Father Pat Norris and Blessed Sacrament, and to Reverend Michael Schuler and the First Unitarian Church, and Minister Marshall Norman of Unity Church for discussing the important issue of how society treats God's animals.
I recommend a wonderful article "All God's Creatures" by Deborah M. Jones of Great Britain's Catholic Concern for Animals that appeared this week: http://www.americamagazine.org/content/article.cfm?article_id=12571-------------
Please read Dr Andre Menache's new report: "The Replacement of Non Human Primates in Brain Research" which addresses the many reasons why we should not use monkeys in brain research. Have you seen any reports in our media giving this much coverage about a scientist opposing animal experimentation? You don't see it, because they don't want you to know that we have 21st century sophisticated and human based technology available that allows us to advance science without harming animals.
------------------
Please share this with others, and become involved. Our silence allows this to continue. Our community (Madison Wisconsin -UW) has 9,000+ monkeys being used in unnecessary experimentation. Please help to get this information out.
Our community does have the right to know.

Thanks for your recent comments - also had a cancellation so I could skim comments on UW's latest (excellent) post...
"The worst sin against the earth is failure to control population."
I could write for days on that subject alone, but back to blogging about petty everyday shit!
Again, you don't know how much your input is appreciated...
Ha ha ha! You won't believe what my word verification was!
