Hillary's Plan for the Bail Out

Dear Puma PAC,

Senator Clinton, the ONLY Democrat in Washington fighting for average Americans in this financial crisis, NEEDS our help. She is the only politician offering a concrete and practical solution for homeowners facing foreclosure and drastic interest rate hikes.

This week Senator Clinton was everywhere on the airwaves insisting that Congress NOT ignore the needs and fears of average Americans in their rush to bail out the Billionaires.

Today she wrote an article for the Wall Street Journal in which she calls for a new Homeowners Loan Corporation, based on the very successful FDR model that helped millions of Americans during the Great Depression.

Senator Obama, in an unsurprising show of non-existent leadership, has already signaled that he will NOT push for legislation that may ease the burden and anxiety on working and middle class Americans.

I've proposed a new Home Owners' Loan Corporation (HOLC), to launch a national effort to help homeowners refinance their mortgages. The original HOLC, launched in 1933, bought mortgages from failed banks and modified the terms so families could make affordable payments while keeping their homes. The original HOLC returned a profit to the Treasury and saved one million homes. We can save roughly three times that many today. We should also put in place a temporary moratorium on foreclosures and freeze rate hikes in adjustable-rate mortgages. We've got to stem the tide of failing mortgages and give the markets time to recover.

As Puma PAC members, we continue to support Hillary Clinton. This week she again reminded us WHY we support her: for her leadership, her fighting spirit, her calm and competent response to crisis. And above all, for her demonstrable commitment to VOTERS -- the working PEOPLE of America.

Senator Clinton needs our direct support and our INDIRECT support. Please call her Senate office today and express your support for her HOLC plan. Then, call your senators and representative in Congress. Tell them to BACK HILLARY's PLAN!

Time is running out. The Republicans have no reason to stand behind Hillary, and sad to say, at this sorry point in the history of our Party, neither do the Democratic leadership.
