Of Course, NOW, They Want to Talk About Sexism
All of a sudden, Howard Dean wants to talk about sexism -- "The wounds of sexism need to be the subject of a national discussion. . . Many of the most prominent people on TV behaved like middle schoolers toward Mrs. Clinton."
All of a sudden, the "feminists" at Slate want to talk MORE about sexism.
Even Obama is now using the word "women" -- "Obviously, I am thrilled and honored to have Sen. Clinton's support. But more than that, I honor her today for the valiant and historic campaign she has run. She shattered barriers on behalf of my daughters and women everywhere, who now know that there are no limits to their dreams."
Yah, sure, let's talk about sexism, you bet, but let's not pretend, like many of Slate's women, that it didn't have an effect on voters (can you say gender gap?) or that they now wish to talk about it because, well, they didn't talk about it enough before, I suppose. Yah, that's the ticket, feeling guilty you didn't object strong enough during the campaign? Well, NOW, you can do penance by saying "let's keep talking about sexism." That seems to be Slate's strategy for redemption.
As if doing penance now will make any difference in our opinions of you. Too little, too late, and too complicit.
