Animal groups are NOT rescuing stranded animals
PETA ANNOUNCES THIS MORNING SEPT 8TH, THAT THEY HAVE BEEN GRANTED PERMISSION TO ENTER NEW ORLEANS TO RESCUE THE STARVING AND ABANDONED ANIMALS. PETAS TEAMS ARE ON THE WAY --- THANK YOU THOSE OF YOU WHO WROTE AND AGITATED. Up until today NO animal welfare group has been allowed into New Orleans to rescue the forced abandoned animals.
WE STILL HAVE TO CHANGE POLICY SO THAT OWNERS ARE NOT SEPARATED FROM THEIR ANIMALS IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Petfinders was on TV tonight (Sept. 6th). The spokeswoman said there have been no rescues of stranded pets because the animal organizations have "not been let in to do it".
The pets in shelters are those they found around the SuperDome.
Did she say separating animals from their owners was wrong?
Did she demand that the rescue groups be let in to get out in boats and round up starving dogs?
No, she gave a lecture about how owners should keep pets on a leash and buy cages. And send them money.
My disgust is an ocean

Emergency Update: Speak Up for Animals in New Orleans!Animal groups have finally been allowed into some of the affected areas. However, federal authorities are forcing everyone, including elderly residents who have stayed in water-logged residences for days just to safeguard their beloved animals, to leave their animals behind to starve. In some cases, people are told that they must choose between taking vital medicine and taking their dog. This is illegal, and it has to stop. PETA has issued a news release advising that anyone forcing a person to leave an animal behind is engaging in a crime, but that is not stopping federal evacuators from insisting that animals be left to die. Please, call your member of Congress immediately. Leave messages in Washington and at their home offices and get everyone you know to call too. You can find contact information here:

UW Pig Experiment AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN Hurt by 'Anesthesia Problem'
(this is the barbaric shock the pigs with tasers experiments done at OUR state run institution)
In his latest letter, Chancellor Wiley maintains that there is no problem with retaining Wayne McDaniel as a consultant on the pig-shocking team because unlike Stratbucker, he is "not currently a paid consultant for Taser International."
McDaniel's paid presence will supposedly "help ensure that Dr. Webster's current study does not simply duplicate other studies." In our response to the Chancellor, we pointed out that the Animal Welfare Act stipulates that it is the principal investigator—that is, Webster—who is charged with that responsibility.
The UW-MADISON'S chancellor's comment only confirms our contention that Webster's experiments are remarkably similar to earlier ones, and it's even more outrageous that the earlier ones were conducted by McDaniel himself.
McDaniel's Taser projects have brought Taser International money into the University of Missouri, where he teaches electrical engineering. He has a long and intimate relationship with the company, regardless of whether he appears on Taser International's roster as an employee or a consultant. He is as convinced of the Taser's safety as Stratbucker and Webster are.
UW-Madison, You Have (Another) Problem
In an e-mail message to John Webster, his colleague refers to having to "sort out the anesthesia problem" before they undertake another experiment. This must be unsettling to Eric Sandgren, whose review committee, he said, was "won over" by the fact that the pigs were anesthetized. This will be Sandgren's second big disappointment regarding this experiment, as he had also believed that one its strengths was that it was an independent study.
Whatever the "anesthesia problem" was (we have requested an investigation), it doesn't bode well for the pigs. We do know that these large animals, unaccustomed to being confined to a laboratory as they await their demise, are distressed and fearful before they are put under anesthesia. This certainly constitutes cruelty to those who know that pigs are intelligent, sensitive, social animals.
You Can Help
Write to Eric Sandgren, the chair of the All Campus Animal Care and Use Committee, and politely tell him that shocking pigs and killing them for testing weapons is cruel:
