Last night Dr Paul Kaufman, UW-Madison Professor & Chair of Dept of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences, spoke at the Institutes of Discovery about how he experiments on monkeys to learn how to treat glaucoma in humans.
For those of you who weren't able to attend, Luciano filmed it and perhaps next week it'll be ready to show on our program.
This was the first of this year's UW forums about animal research, which were intended to address the concerns of the public about the experimentation of 9,000+ monkeys in our community. This is more than anywhere else in the world!
The last few weeks, we've been showing last year's public testimonies before the Dane County Board, where Resolution 35 was introduced to establish a citizens advisory panel to examine this controversial issue here.
Thursday we're showing the balance of the July 8th Executive Committee meeting, where Res. 35 never got out of committee. If you missed any of this, you can watch everything on these links: June 29th: http://vimeo.com/13142982 ,
