Bambi Safe For Now


A family that nursed an orphaned fawn back to health 3 years ago has permission to pursue their fight to stop the DNR from killing Bambi.

Michael and Ilene Smith filed a law suit against the Wisconsin Dept of Natural Resources to halt execution of their companion deer.

The DNR appealed a decision not to dismiss the Smith's request for an Injunction but this week the state Court of Appeals refused to hear the DNR. They basically upheld the lower court's refusal to dismiss the Smith's suit.

The Smith's followed the DNR's original instructions to be licensed, fence a wooded area, get vet check-ups, only to have the DNR move to confiscate and kill what is now a member of their extended family.
